Sample Itinerary

Teen Girls: Adventures of Self-Discovery
Snow Mountain Ranch, Winter Park, Colorado

Pre-trip orientation

A local pre-trip gathering will be held prior to the start of each retreat in order for participants and their parents to meet the HealthQuest staff and to learn the vision and guiding principles on which the company was founded.  The purpose of the meeting is to create an atmosphere of caring, mutual respect, personal growth, and humor.  Activities will included socialization games, setting group norms, discussing Challenge by Choice agreements, goal setting, and addressing last minute questions or concerns.  We hope this will help individuals focus awareness on personal goals; increase commitment to the group; and create excitement and momentum for personal growth in the days to come.

Retreat

            Each morning of the retreat will begin with the practice of Yoga or basic Tai Chi in order to increase awareness and generate energy.  A healthy breakfast will be served as we check-in and discuss the day’s activities.  Each day will include a new outdoor adventure as we challenge ourselves through a ropes course, an inspiring hike, bike ride, or Rockclimbing.  In the afternoon we will allow space for solo or group reflection and open the imagination through arts and crafts.  Following dinner the group will gather for a motivational workshop personalized to each group’s needs, interests and goals.  Retire to a cozy room with a distinct feeling of accomplishment and peace after an invigorating day.

Closing

            Although we will include the opportunity to discuss our experiences throughout the entire trip, additional time at the end of the retreat will be allowed for further reflection.  During closing we will revisit important events and celebrate the individual and group goals that were met.  Preparing for lofe back home will help to ensure that the growth generated during the retreat can be applied to everyday challenges.  Each group will reconnect within a month to participate in a daylong community project together.
