2009 Mountain Trail Running Races

            Get off the roads and run our beautiful mountain trails!  HealthQuest is excited to include our 2009 mountain area trail running races selected to challenge elite and recreational runners alike.  Long time race director (of 26 years), Sharon Martin, is dedicated to providing well-organized, fun and rewarding adventures for each participant.  There are four races of varying distance and exciting terrain that will truly enrich your summer running experience.

Race Applications

Applications can be downloaded from our Sign-up page or picked up at the following locations:

  • Evergreen:  Paragon Sports and Nick’s Pro-Fitness

  • Denver:  Boulder Running Co. and Runner’s Choice

  • Boulder:  Boulder Running Co., Runner’s Choice, and Runner’s Roast

Awards

            Ribbons will be awarded to the all-around top three male and female finishers and the top three male and female finishers in the following age categories:

  • 13-19,

  • 20-24,

  • 25-29,

  • 30-34,

  • 35-39,

  • 40-44,

  • 45-49,

  • 50-54,

  • 55-59,

  • 60-64,

  • and over 64.

Mt. Falcon

  • Date: Saturday, June 13th 2009

  • Distance: 8 miles

  • Entry Fee: $20 Advance Mail-in, $22 Online, $25 Race Day

  • Race Day Registration and Pre-Registration Number Pick-up: City Offices: 321 Hwy. 8, Morrison, Colo.  6:45-7:45 am

  • Starting Location: Morrison trailhead of Mt. Falcon Open Space Park off of Hwy. 8, Morrison, Colo.

  • Start Time: 8:00 am.

Race Course:  Follow the 4 mile ascent on Castle Trail as it traverses up rocky switchbacks, into a wooded area, and finally across an open meadow to the summit.  Catch a quick view of the snow-capped Continental Divide before heading back down Castle Trail to the finish.  Enjoy the descent that carries you past historic land sites and scenic vistas extending from downtown Denver to the famous Red Rocks Amphitheatre.

 

Evergreen Mountain

  • Date: Saturday, July 11th 2009

  • Distance: 6.2 miles

  • Entry Fee: $20 Advance Mail-in, $22 Online, $25 Race Day

  • Race Day Registration and Pre-Registration Number Pick-up: Wilmot Pre-School, 5124

  • Hatch Dr. Evergreen, Colo.  6:45-7:45 am

  • Starting Location: Lower Lot of Aldefer’s/Three Sisters Jeffco Open Space, Buffalo Park Road, Evergreen, Colo.

  • Start Time: 8:00 am.

Race Course:  Follow a gradual 3 mile climb up the east side of Evergreen Mountain capturing meadows of columbine, wild iris, and an occasional rare wood lily.  Continue up the Summit Trail around a scenic loop that offers an expansive view of Mt. Evans and surrounding peaks.  Reconnect with Evergreen Mountain following the west side branch that descends through a thick family of lodge pole pines.  Traverse down Ranch View to the final finishing stretch where the race began.

 

Elk Meadow

  • Date: Saturday, September 12th 2009

  • Distance: 5.6 miles

  • Entry Fee: $20 Advance Mail-in, $22 Online, $25 Race Day

  • Race Day Registration and Pre-Registration Number Pick-up: Evergreen Metropolitan District, 30920 Stagecoach Blvd. Evergreen, Colo.

  • Starting Location: Stagecoach trailhead of Elk Meadow located 1 mile west of Hwy 74, Evergreen, Colo.  7:45-8:45 am

  • Start Time: 9:00 am.

Race Course:  During this race runners will traverse the lower portion of Bergen Mountain which tours an environment of grassy fields, mountain wild flowers, and open rolling hills.  Trails include Meadow View, Sleepy S, and Painter’s Pause; then reconnects with Meadow View to the finish line.

 

Bergen Peak

  • Date: Saturday, September 12th 2009

  • Distance: 11.5 miles

  • Entry Fee: $20 Advance Mail-in, $22 Online, $25 Race Day

  • Race Day Registration and Pre-Registration Number Pick-up: Evergreen Metropolitan District, 30920 Stagecoach Blvd. Evergreen, Colo. 7:45-8:45 am

  • Starting Location: Stagecoach trailhead of Elk Meadow located 1 mile west of Hwy 74, Evergreen, Colo. 

  • Start Time: 9:20 am.

Race Course: Congratulations for stepping up to the challenge of what enduring fans call, “The Bergen Beast”—a fulfilling test of will and conquest.  This race lends the opportunity to experience many eco-systems from the Foothills to Montane Zones each with a diversity of plants and animals.  The route follows a counter-clockwise direction beginning on Meadow View to Sleepy S, Painter’s Pause, Meadow View (again), Too Long and Bergen Peak Summit.  Rejoice on top with staggering views from Pike’s Peak to Mt. Evans.  Descend back down Summit Trail, Bergen Peak Trail, and Meadow View all the way to the completion line.
